Don’t feel like it is appropriate to celebrate pride with everything going on. Let’s celebrate together and help others by paying it forward? Let us share some of our ideas.
Here are 3 ways you can celebrate #Pride2020 and contribute:
1) Donate! We choose to donate to the @trevorproject. If you still not aware, it’s a fantastic organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to LGBTQ youth. The Trevor Project is represented by one of our favorite allies for the LGBTQ community Dan Radcliffe (who recently responds to JK Rowling’s remarks: “Transgender women are women”). Also @trevorproject mentioned recently in Celebrity Drag Race.
2) Try not to buy rainbow merch from big companies that doesn’t even donate any proceeds. Instead, check out these black-owned LGBTQ+ Pride Apparel businesses: @transisbeautifulapparel @stuzoclothing @shoplolaade @burkinabae @blackqueernation @jagandco
We would love to remind you to DO NOT ask anything for ‘exposure’, these are small independent labels, they also DONATE money from sales to BLM and LGBTQ movements. Please support if you have an opportunity.
3) We would love to add, not everyone has a possibility to buy or donate, which is ABSOLUTELY FINE! Always remember, it costs $0.00 to be a decent person. Being good and kind towards others is the best thing you can do for humanity! You don’t need money to celebrate Pride online. You can join @LGBTQTravelThailand pride or any other virtual prides, show your true colors and celebrate with other incredible content creators and amazing human beings.
