Da Nang is the fifth largest city in Vietnam. It marks the halfway point between the capital in the north, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City in the south. The city is well known among the tourists due to its proximity to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Today we will take you to explore the must-do things in this awesome city.
To explore Da Nang at its prime time and with extreme ease, we would recommend you to use public transport or Grab (a local Uber app) as it is the safest and easiest way to navigate around the town. However, if you have experience driving a motorbike in Asia, you can rent and explore Da Nang by bike. Traffic and local rules, however, a bit wild, so always be careful.
But let’s back to our blog post! Here are several things that we would encourage you to do or places that you should visit if you are planning to travel to central Vietnam in a near future!
1) Golden Bridge
Yes, the Instagram star of Vietnam comes first on the list. The Golden Bridge connects the cable car station with the gardens and to provides a scenic overlook and tourist attraction in the Bà Nà Hills Resort. The giant hands supporting the bridge symbolize something divine, mythical, or godlike. It does look as though they are lifting the bridge as a gift from the ground. The bridge’s principal architect has even said that the goal of the design was to “invoke the sensation of walking along a thread stretching through the hands of God.” Scary? Yes, it is but that’s exactly what makes this bridge so famous and adventurous. There are a lot of people there around 9 am so you have to hurry up if you want to have a picture without too many people photo-bombing you.
2) Ba Na Hills
Yes, the amusement park and resort discussed above make the list as well because the Golden Bridge isn’t the only reason to visit it. There are many more causes that collectively make the hill resort a perfect vacation-going experience. It is a mountaintop resort that looks like a medieval castle, but inside these stone walls are modern accommodations, world-class restaurants, and a Fantasy Park full of exciting rides. You can enjoy the cable car (as mentioned above, if you want to avoid the crowd that you should be taking a trip to the resort before 9 am), stroll through the French Village (a village designed in a French style), pay a visit to the famous Wax Museum, buy a ticket to the Fantasy Park and enjoy various adventurous rides in the park with your friends, family or partner. Other excursions in the resort include visiting the Drop Tower, taking the 4D Death Race Experience, and eat at the Kavkaz Restaurant. We mentioned all the activities in 2 different sentences because so much cannot be described in so few words… We need to take a breath.
3) Lady Buddha
Lady Buddha is the tallest statue in the entire Republic of Vietnam with a height of 67m. The lotus diameter is 35m, equivalent to a 30-story building. It is made of white marble and is located inside the Linh Ung pagoda courtyard. The statue has 17 floors, with each floor dedicated to a different Buddha. Though the multi-level trek is tough, it’s worth it for the spectacular views of the city.
4) Check Local Beaches for Some Cool Photo Shots
Da Nang’s coastline stretches 30 kilometers, renowned for calm, cool waters and nautical sports like fishing, water-skiing, diving, and yachting. Some of the most common and famous beaches include My Khe Beach, Non-Nuoc Beach, Bac My An Beach, Thanh Binh Beach, Lang Co Beach, Xuan Thieu Beach, Son Tra Peninsula, Tien Sa Beach, and more. So what are you waiting for? Find your beachwear, grab your surfboards, and a few dollars to have the best day at Da Nang’s beaches.
5) Marble Mountain
Do you enjoy exploring the mountains and caves? If yes, then Marble Mountain is the best place to explore in Da Nang. The Marble Mountains are a cluster of five hills of limestone and marble. It’s also a well-known pilgrimage site with peaks, caves, tunnels, and temples all just waiting to be discovered. It offers a beautiful hike with lots of temples and caves. There are, as well, a few points to get views of the sea and the mountains, beautiful gardens with a comfortable spot to have a rest and buy some cold coconut. Surely, tourist heaven!
6) Da Nang Cathedral
Last but not the least, Da Nang Cathedral is a pink-painted edifice that earns its reputation as one of the most unique catholic churches in Vietnam. The church features a simple interior design of engraved motifs, rhombic-shaped arches, medieval-style stained glass windows of various saints, and statues depicting events from the Holy Bible. It is considered to be a holy place for photography, The interior and the beautiful pink exterior of the cathedral makes it a must-have for your Instagram.
