Bangkok boasts an array of five-star hotels, but The Okura Prestige Bangkok distinguishes itself with understated elegance, offering thoughtful service, refined design, and a harmonious blend of Japanese hospitality and Thai warmth. The hotel’s location near Ploenchit BTS makes it easy to get around, but it’s also a peaceful spot to recharge. You’re just a short walk from two of Bangkok’s best parks — Lumphini and Benjakitti — which makes it feel less like you’re in the middle of a busy city, and more like you’ve found a quiet pocket to unwind.

We chose The Okura Prestige for a weekend staycation honeymoon — a brief yet meaningful celebration of our new chapter after a demanding work period. Seeking an escape that felt both luxurious and rejuvenating without the need for extensive travel, we found exactly that. From the moment we arrived, the hotel’s attention to detail and serene ambiance transported us, making it feel like we’d ventured far beyond Bangkok.
Here’s what made our stay truly memorable.
Inside the Deluxe Suite: Skyline Views, Private Tea, and So Much Space
Our Deluxe Suite at The Okura Prestige Bangkok offered what you hope for in a luxury city stay — peace, privacy, and an unbeatable view. The full sweep of Bangkok’s skyline filled the space through floor-to-ceiling windows, with soft natural light setting the tone. Paired with clean Japanese design and warm, minimalist tones, it instantly felt like a place to exhale.

The suite is spacious and beautifully laid out, with a separate living area, a large walk-in closet, and a well-designed workspace tucked neatly into the layout. The bed was massive and cloud-soft — perfect for stretching out after a long soak in one of the largest hotel bathtubs we’ve experienced in Bangkok.
Speaking of: the tub was already filled with rose petals when we arrived (thank you, Okura team). We spent hours in there, relaxing and fully switching off — a true highlight of the stay.

Another detail we loved was the in-room tea ceremony set. It came fully prepared, with everything we needed for a traditional-style service. We even slipped into the yukata robes provided and had a private tea session overlooking the city. (Let’s be honest: yukata = excellent Instagram prop, always.)
Even in the centre of the city, the suite gave us space to slow down and enjoy the moment — just us, some tea, and that panoramic Bangkok skyline.

Dining at Yamazato: Tokyo-Level Kaiseki in the Heart of Bangkok
Yamazato, the signature Japanese restaurant at The Okura Prestige Bangkok, delivers a dining experience that feels worlds away from the city below. Located on the 24th floor, it combines understated elegance with exceptional culinary precision — a rare blend in Bangkok’s fine dining scene.

We opted for the Uzuki Kaiseki set menu, which showcased seasonal ingredients across multiple courses, from amuse to dessert. Highlights included glistening sashimi (tuna belly, horse mackerel, scallop aburi), a delicate soup with sakura shrimp and yuzu, and snow fish grilled in sakura leaf — a dish as fragrant as it was tender.

Each course arrived beautifully plated, with a quiet confidence that didn’t overcomplicate the flavours. Even the tempura course — often an afterthought elsewhere — was light, crisp, and full of nuance (snow crab, lotus root, and kogomi mountain vegetables were standouts). Dessert closed with fresh fruit and a silky strawberry pudding with warm egg yolk sauce.

What elevated the experience even more was the service. Staff were generous with their knowledge, explaining ingredients and preparation techniques without interrupting the flow of the evening. It was elegant, but never stiff — and the view over Bangkok at night added the perfect touch.
Yamazato’s sake pairing also deserves a mention: thoughtful, well-paced, and designed to enhance rather than distract.

For the level of quality, the pricing felt fair — especially considering the premium ingredients flown in from Japan and the detail in every dish. Whether you’re staying at The Okura Prestige or not, this is a dinner worth making time for. For the menu and bookings, visit the official website.
Afternoon Tea Omakase: An Elegant, Rare Find in Bangkok

Afternoon teas in Bangkok tend to follow a predictable formula, but The Okura Prestige’s Afternoon Tea Omakase is a complete departure. Curated and served by the chef himself, this multi-course tasting experience blends Japanese elegance with creative storytelling, one quiet bite at a time.

Forget the three-tier tray. Here, courses arrive individually, starting with delicate savouries like ama ebi with gazpacho or sake-kasu cream cheese topped with caviar and sea urchin. Each dish is paired with an inspired drink, from a Thai lemon tea highball to a peach umeshu, designed to enhance flavour without overwhelming.

What we loved most? The chef’s personal explanations between each course — where the ingredients came from (yes, some flew in from Toyosu Market), how they were prepared, and why each pairing worked. It made the whole experience feel intimate, educational, and, honestly, fun. You’re not just tasting — you’re learning.

Served at the UP & ABOVE Lounge, the setting is just as considered: plush seating, quiet ambiance, and full skyline views. No sugar overload, no gimmicks — just craftsmanship, creativity, and calm.

Created exclusively by The Okura’s culinary team, this Omakase-style afternoon tea is only available every third weekend of the month. We were lucky to grab a last-minute cancellation — and truly, we’ll be talking about it for a long time. For more details and booking, visit the official website.

What Else to Know: Facilities, Location & Feel
- Location: Right above the Ploenchit BTS, The Okura connects directly to the city via skywalk, but the hotel itself feels worlds away from the traffic and noise.
- Facilities: Don’t skip the 25-meter cantilevered infinity pool — it’s one of the best in Bangkok, especially around golden hour. The gym and spa are well-equipped, but for us, the in-room atmosphere was already relaxing enough.
- Service: Subtle, seamless, and always one step ahead. Whether it was arranging a surprise for our honeymoon stay or remembering our tea preferences, the staff made it feel personal without ever being overbearing.

Breakfast: A Fusion of Flavors
Breakfast at The Okura Prestige Bangkok offers two distinct experiences. At Up & Above Restaurant, guests can enjoy an international buffet featuring a variety of options, including made-to-order eggs, fresh pastries, and Asian specialties. For a more traditional start, Yamazato serves a Japanese set breakfast with dishes like grilled fish, miso soup, and steamed rice. Both venues provide a serene atmosphere, making breakfast a delightful part of the stay.

Why The Okura Prestige Bangkok Should Be Your Next Stay
From the start, this stay felt like more than just a weekend away. It gave us the reset we didn’t know we needed — the space to slow down, reconnect, and be fully present. The Okura Prestige doesn’t try to impress with over-the-top features or flash. Instead, it focuses on the details that matter: comfort, calm, and genuine hospitality that lingers with you long after check-out.

If you’re looking for a five-star hotel in Bangkok that balances modern luxury with traditional calm, The Okura Prestige Bangkok delivers in every way. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t overwhelm — it invites you in, slows you down, and gives you space to recharge.
We’ll remember this one. And without a doubt, we’ll be back.
