Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan

During our travels, we are always trying to include in our itinerary some interesting modern art spots. This time we visited the place called the Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. We were very excited about graffiti and drawings in the most unexpected places. But let us show you everything one by one.

Pier-2 Art Center used to be an abandoned warehouse after Kaohsiung shifted from industrial center to service city. They said warehouse was constructed in 1973 and because the area is also home to numerous local artists, the warehouse was released and redesigned into an art center. And in 2006, the Kaohsiung Pier 2 Art Development Association alongside the Shu-Te University’s Art and the Bureau of Cultural Affairs of Kaohsiung City Government started a series of exhibitions at the center.

Due to heavy investment from the local government and its central location, Pier 2 Art Center is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Kaohsiung and even locals like to hang around here, making it one of the most photographed places in the city.

You can access the Pie 2 Art center easily from Yanchengpu Station of Kaohsiung MRT. Also, the Dayi Pier 2 Station and Penglai Pier 2 Station of Kaohsiung LRT pass though the art center.
