Kaohsiung never receives as much attention as the capital Taipei. Nevertheless, this second largest city in Taiwan has many colorful places that make you take out your camera and take some shots for your Instagram or Facebook. A trip to this seaside city will reignite your passion for photography.
With fascinating scenery, great gastronomic experience, and a laid back vibe, Kaohsiung is a great spot of a holiday or simply a weekend gateway. Though some parts of the city have been modernized and rebuilt, some parts still have ancient Taiwanese architecture. In this list, we are going to share with you the most Instagrammable places in Kaohsiung. Please keep in mind, you can use this blog piece as a guide to travel around Kaohsiung as well. 1) Pier-2 Art Center
Due to serious investment from the local government and its central location, Pier 2 Art Center is one of the most popular tourist spots in the Kaohsiung and even locals like to hang around here, making it one of the most photographed places in the city.

2) Weiwuying Street Art Village
If you have ever searched the photos of street arts in Kaohsiung, it is highly likely that Lingya showed up in the search results. There are murals everywhere and almost every wall is covered in color.
In 2017, the Lingya District Street Art hosted the street festival.
You will find some murals with accompanying plaques with information (though in Chinese).
The city council of Kaohsiung works in conjunction with organizations such as the Wallriors and Arcade.
There is a lot of art here, making it a great photo op in Kaohsiung.

3) Lotus Lake Area: The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas
Lotus Lake is one of the most scenic areas in Kaohsiung in the northern outskirts of the city. One thing this spot is famous for is the profusion of temples, with the famous Confucius Temple located in the northern corner of the lake and the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas in the south and the Autumn and Spring Pavilions.
The lake is particularly picturesque in the late afternoon when the sun begins to set and it reflects in the water.
If you look around you will see the remnants of the Fengshan County gates and walls which were labeled a first-grade historic.
The Autumn and Spring Pavilions were dedicated to the Kuan Kung, the God of War after they were constructed in 1951.
The Dragon and Tiger Pagodas are located 700 meters south of the Autumn and Spring. The throat of the dragon is the entrance while the mouth of the tiger is the exit. By entering the dragon’s throat and coming out of the tiger’s mouth, you will be turning bad omen into good fortune.
Inside you will find paintings depicting 24 most obedient sons of China and the scene of hell and heaven to inspire everyone to do good things during their lifetime.

4) Formosa Boulevard
Formosa Boulevard is a Kaohsiung MRT station in Sinsing District in Kaohsiung and serves the sole interchange station between metro lines in the city.
You may be wondering why a train station can be a photo op. But that is before you get inside. The Kaohsiung Metro is often referred to as “Dome of Light” because of its multicolored glass installation made of several thousand glass panels, which is the largest glass work in the world. It is 30 meters wide and spread 2, 180 square meters.
The station was designed by Italian artist Narcissus Quagliata. The dome is also offered as wedding venues.
To accommodate it properly within a frame, bring a wide-angle lens.

5) The Fo Guang Shan
The next Instagrammable spot in Kaohsiung is Fo Guang Shan, the headquarters of a Chinese Buddhism movement titled Fo Guang Shan Monastery. Unlike other Chinese Buddhism branches, the Fo Guang Shan has embraced modernism, making this monastery a truly fascinating place. Besides, it is the largest Buddhist complex in the whole of Taiwan and is very open to the public.
6) Guomao Community
This is not a tourist spot, but we still recommend that you stop by to look at these ordinary multi-story buildings called Guomao Community. It simple but pretty area with apartment buildings built in a circle.

7) Cijin Island: Rainbow Church
Cijin is a narrow island that serves as a buffer to the Kaohsiung harbor, and it stretches down the city’s coast, making it a lovely day gateway. There are a lot of things to enjoy and take pictures of, including the Rainbow Church,

8) Cijin Island: Cijin Shell Museum
The Cijin Shell Museum is another great spot to take some cool photos. Remember to visit the back of the building to listen to the sounds of the amazing sea!

9) Cijin Island: Windmill Park
Windmill Park is also nearby. We drove just a few minutes on our motobike. Fans of Wes Anderson’s films will love it.

10) Cijin Island: Cijin star tunnel

จากสถานี Zuoying MRT ให้นั่งรถบัสสาย 301 ลงที่ Lianchitan (Shengli Rd.) แล้วเดินต่ออีก 2 นาที… สังเกตได้ง่าย เจดีย์คู่ด้านหน้ามีรูปปั้นมังกรและเสือขนาดใหญ่!
4) Formosa Boulevard
Formosa Boulevard เป็นสถานี MRT ในเขต Sinsing ในเกาสงและให้บริการสถานีแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างสายรถไฟใต้ดินในเมือง

สมกับเป็นเมืองแห่งศิลปะ “Dome of Light” หนึ่งในแลนมาร์คของเกาสง สร้างจากกระจกหลากสีหลายพันบานซึ่งเป็นงานกระจกที่ใหญ่ที่สุดในโลก กว้างถึง 30 เมตร! และถูกออกแบบโดยศิลปินชาวอิตาลี Narcissus Quagliata

5) Fo Guang Shan
ถือว่าเป็นสถานที่เรียกว่า Instagram Place ที่สายไอจีคงไม่พลาด! ด้วยการออกแบบและพื้นที่ขนาดยักษ์ของพุทธอุทยาน โฝ กวง ซาน ที่ตั้งตระหง่านด้วยพระพุทธรูปขนาดใหญ่ พร้อมเจดีย์ขนาบข้าง และวิวทิวทัศน์ของภูเขา ทำให้กลายเป็นจุดที่นักท่องเที่ยวต้องไปเยือน

ยานชุมชนที่มีตึกอาศัยกันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ ให้ความรู้สึกเหมือนฮ่องกง แต่ที่นี่มีความสงบ ร่มรื่น ผู้คนน่ารัก สามารถเข้าไปถ่ายรูปด้านในได้ แต่ไม่ควรเสียงดัง เนื่องจากเป็นเขตชุมชน
