Recently we had a chance to get our regular late lunch along with the beautiful views over the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea). Since there are few restaurants around the temple area with similar concepts – view over the temple and spots to take photos – it took us about 10 minutes to figure out which place to chose. In the end, even it sounds completely stupid, we went to the restaurant with the name Matakan (มาตะกาญจน์) because of an idea for our Instagram – to finally get a photo with a white staircase to the sky since we didn’t have any.
Restaurant Matakan is family-owned. When we walked in, staff kids were playing around while there were no customers at all. We ordered Thai dishes, and while we were waiting for them to cook, we went to take photos outside. Unfortunately for us, there was a rice harvesting season and we couldn’t get photos with perfect green fields. However, we were still blessed with a beautiful sky and the view was very nice. There are many corners for taking photos but most of them weren’t in our style, so you can see just a few that we were interested in.
The food was good! The restaurant has a nice atmosphere for relaxation after a hot day and a spacious area outside for taking photos. The spicy Tom Yam with seafood was amazing as usual. The fried fish was good too! We also tried rice with fried seafood and basil. Overall, the food was really delicious.
Since there was nothing more in our plans that day, we ordered a few beers and just enjoyed the view over the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea).
We think the restaurant Matakan is a nice place to chill after exploring the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Suea). It’s a place where you feel calm and relaxing. You could imagine yourself being surrounded by rice fields or sitting on a bench under trees while listening to the sound of nature.
