The Amazing Chiang Mai Green Guide Fest 2026 ran 28–30 August at Railway Park — six zones, 35+ local food stalls, craft and wellness from communities across the province, nightly music, and certified carbon-neutral. Here’s what we found.
Chiang Mai has been positioning itself as a green destination for a while now, and this was the weekend it put the whole idea in one park and let people walk through it. The Amazing Chiang Mai Green Guide Fest 2026 took over Railway Park from 28 to 30 August — free entry, 3pm to 9pm, six zones, and a lot of food.
It’s the northern sequel to the Krabi Green Guide Fest we went to last May. Same organisers, same thinking, rebuilt around what Chiang Mai actually has: craft, coffee, wellness, and hill communities that have been doing low-impact tourism since long before anyone gave it a name.
Sustainable Gastronomy
More than 35 local food and drink businesses, and this is where the crowd was every night. Northern Thai staples, coffee from small northern roasters, plant-based options, and a lot of stalls where the person handing you the plate is the person who made it.
There’s also a Farm-to-Table Showcase run by local chefs — twenty places per session, and you get access by spending 500 baht or more at the festival. Given the stall prices, that’s not a hard bar to clear.
Packaging across the zone is non-plastic and the bins are properly sorted, with staff standing at them to help you get it right. Sounds minor. It isn’t, when 15,000 people come through in three days.
Sustainable Local Wisdom: Art, Craft and Wellness
Come early for this one, before the food queues build. Products and services from makers across the province — contemporary craft, sustainable design, wellness — and it’s all tied to specific communities rather than the vague “handmade in Thailand” you get in the tourist markets.
We came away with more than we planned to. That keeps happening to us at these things.
Sustainability Showcase
The most useful zone if you want to actually travel differently rather than just enjoy a nice evening. It lays out the standards behind the scenes — STGs STAR and CF-Hotels among them — with demonstrations and workshops attached, so it’s not a wall of certification logos.

Green Mission
A stamp rally across the site: join activities, collect stamps, claim a reward at the end. It’s aimed at families and it works on adults too. We are adults and it worked on us.
Music and Dance, Every Night
Two cultural performances daily, pulled from the province’s own repertoire — Bo Sang umbrella dance, Fon Ngiao, Sabad Chai drumming, the tea-leaf picking dance, Fon Oeng. Then live music into the evening.

Certified Carbon Neutral
This is where the festival separates itself from the usual green-branded event. It’s certified as a Carbon Neutral Event by the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization, and the footprint is published rather than gestured at: an estimated 350 tonnes, roughly half of what last year’s Krabi edition produced.
The measures behind that number are unglamorous and specific — waste reduction and separation, plastic avoided rather than “minimised where possible”, resource management across the build, and EV shuttles running to the site so 15,000 people aren’t all arriving by taxi.
